Web Shield uses the Android AccessibilityService API: when you turn it on, it reads the web address (URL) in your browser's address bar, checks it against Kaspersky's threat database, and shows a warning over the page if the site is a known phishing, scam, or malware site. It reads only the address bar — never your messages, page content, anything you type, or other apps on your screen — and is not used to collect or share personal data. Web Shield is optional and off by default: you enable it yourself under Settings > Accessibility > Mitigata, can switch it off there at any time, and every other Mitigata feature works without it.
