Turn your Android phone into a practical Java development environment.
PocketCoded Java is a mobile Java IDE for students, learners and developers who want to write, compile, run and manage Java projects directly on Android. The core coding workflow runs locally, so you can keep working without a constant internet connection once the required tools are installed.
Write and run Java on your phone
• Write Java code with syntax highlighting, tabs, autocomplete and code inspections.
• Compile and run Java projects directly on your Android device.
• Work with Java 8, 11, 17 and 21 language levels.
• Organise code across multiple source files, packages and local JAR libraries.
• Run JUnit tests and view compiler diagnostics.
Terminal, build tools and Git
• Work with an integrated terminal that supports interactive input.
• Recall recent commands and copy or clear terminal output.
• Work with Maven, Gradle and sbt projects.
• Initialise Git repositories and use built-in Git commands.
• Generate SSH keys and transfer files to remote systems with SFTP.
Projects and file management
• Create a new Java project in seconds.
• Import files, folders and ZIP projects.
• Browse and manage code with a resizable or fullscreen explorer.
• Search and replace across a project, selected folder or active file.
• Rename, organise, save and export your projects.
Databases and SQL
Explore SQLite databases and run SQL queries inside PocketCoded Java. Combine Java development with database workflows without constantly switching between applications.
Build more than simple programs
PocketCoded Java includes a lightweight on-device compiler for everyday Java projects. Use it to practise programming, build command-line applications, work with libraries and develop projects while away from your computer.
Optional professional tools, including OpenJDK, Maven, Gradle and database clients, are installed when first needed. These tools may require a large download and several gigabytes of storage. Some desktop-specific Java technologies require the professional runtime, and compatibility can vary by device and project.
Optional AI coding assistance
Connect supported AI providers using your own compatible API key or a configured compatible local endpoint. Ask the assistant to explain code, suggest changes and prepare terminal commands. Review proposed actions before applying them.
Online AI providers require an internet connection. Project context is sent when you submit an AI request. Your core Java editing and execution workflow does not depend on AI.
Make the workspace your own
Choose from 20 themes, including Nebula Orbit, Saturn Dust and Mars Horizon in light and dark modes. Resize your workspace or expand the explorer, editor and terminal into fullscreen views.
Designed for learning and development
PocketCoded Java is useful for:
• Students learning Java and programming fundamentals.
• Developers who need a portable Java workspace.
• Learners without regular access to a laptop.
• Data-conscious users who want to code locally.
• Developers testing ideas while away from their computer.
