About this app

The Andropause Web App - Provides timely, up-to-date and easy-to-understand information about what andropause is and what its symptoms and causes are.

Andropause occurs when a man's body begins to produce less testosterone around the age of 40, and therefore testosterone levels decline.

At the same time another hormone called Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) increases.

SHBG binds to available testosterone circulating in the blood.

Testosterone that is not bound to the hormone SHBG is called bioavailable testosterone, which means that it is available for use in the body, fulfilling a beneficial task for the body.

In those men who experience symptoms associated with andropause, the amounts of bioavailable testosterone in the blood have been reduced.

For this reason, the body tissues that are stimulated by testosterone receive less of it, which can cause physical, mental and emotional changes, such as mood swings or tiredness.

Although all men experience a drop in bioavailable testosterone levels, in some it is more pronounced, causing andropausal symptoms.

It is estimated that about 50 million men in the US suffer from some type of deficiency of this hormone.

The changes that occur occur gradually, unlike menopause in women where they occur abruptly.

These changes can cause andropausal symptoms such as:

• Mood changes.
• Problems in the sexual plane.
• Reduced physical agility.
• Fatigue.
• Power loss.
• Among others.

All these symptoms decrease the quality of life of those who suffer from them and can even expose them to certain complications such as increased risks of cardiovascular problems or osteoporosis (brittle bones).

Andropause is common in men around 50 years of age, it is estimated that 30% of these individuals have andropausal symptoms related to low levels of bioavailable testosterone.

Many men find it hard to admit there is a problem, which is the main reason this condition has been underdiagnosed in the past.

In this Web App about Andropause we address this taboo subject for many men.

We suggest that you regularly review this Web Application, as we are constantly updating and updating it.
