About this app

Modicus is a quiet home screen for Android. It shows your apps as plain text names, in black and white. No colorful icons, no badges, no wallpaper. Your phone asks for less of your attention.

Modicus is a launcher. Choose it once as your default home app, and switch back at any time in Android's settings.

Screens
Swipe left or right, or tap the small icons at the top.
- favs: the apps you use most
- all: every app, a to z, with a letter bar to jump to a letter
- settings: how it looks and works
- widgets (Premium): a screen for your widgets

Favorites, your way
Tick your favorites and show them as:
- a list, a to z
- a cloud, where the apps you use more appear larger and bolder
- simple monochrome icons in outlined squares, which you can reorder.

Color when you need it. Monochrome icons can be hard to recognize. If that is the case for you, switch the icons, the quick menu and the widgets to full color in settings.

Or let Modicus learn. It shows the apps you opened most lately, and older use slowly counts less, so it follows your habits as they change.

Quick menu
A row of icons at the bottom for the apps you open all the time. Choose from 1 to 8 places.

Notification dots (optional)
A small dot appears after an app's name when it has a notification waiting. This needs notification access, which you switch on yourself. Modicus only checks which apps have a notification, never what it says, and keeps nothing.

Calm by design
- Black and white plus one gray, following your light or dark setting
- One font: monospace or sans-serif, in a size you choose
- Almost no animation
- A menu bar you can hide

Premium: widgets
One optional one-time purchase adds the widgets screen. Place widgets from other apps, such as a clock, the weather or your calendar. They are shown in black, white and gray to match, or in full color if you prefer. No subscription.

Private
- No internet permission
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics, no account
- Your favorites, settings and usage counts stay on your phone
- The only outside contact is Google Play's own purchase system, for Premium

Good to know
- Works on Android 10 and newer
- Modicus has no search, folders, icon packs or app hiding. It is small on purpose.

"Modicus" is Latin for moderate.
