Every so often, during the hours you choose, Recess quietly pauses the apps that keep you glued to your seat. To open them again, you stand up and do a short set of a simple exercise, squats, sit-to-stands, pushups, and more, counted automatically by your camera, entirely on your device. Then you're back, a little less sedentary than a minute ago.

It's built on a simple, research-backed idea: breaking up long stretches of sitting with brief, frequent movement does more for your energy, focus, and long-term health than a single workout can undo.

How it works
• Pick the apps worth pausing, your break rhythm, and the hours and days it runs
• When a break comes, your chosen apps go quiet
• Stand up and do a few reps, and the camera counts them for you

How Recess uses accessibility access
Recess uses Android's Accessibility Service for one purpose: to notice when you open an app you chose to pause during a break, so it can bring you back to move. It reads only which app is in the foreground. It never reads your screen content, and nothing is sent anywhere.

After a 7-day free trial, it renews annually at the price shown on this page and in the app unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. What’s new

Recess now speaks German and Spanish, alongside English and French. Change it any time in Settings.

Also fixed: after signing out and into a different account, the app could still show the first account's totals. It no longer does.
