About this app

NitroDeck Launcher transforms your Android device into a clean handheld-style home experience built around two distinct launcher modes.

The classic mode recreates the feeling of a dual-screen interface with a top information area, clock, calendar, status tools, app cards, settings panels, sound effects, haptic feedback, and controller-friendly navigation.

The photo mode offers a brighter layout with a rotating user photo frame, a horizontal app carousel, a start card, persistent selected apps, and a simple way to switch back to the classic interface.

You can browse installed Android apps, search alphabetically, customize app icons with local image files, restore default icons, uninstall apps through native Android flows, and keep your selected app or launched game visible on the home surface.

The launcher also includes a local game library for compatible handheld game files selected from your own folders. Covers are extracted where possible, fallback covers are generated when needed, and games can be opened through external emulator apps selected by the user.

Key features:

- Classic dual-screen launcher surface
- Photo-based launcher surface
- Installed app catalog with search and alphabetical navigation
- Local game library for user-selected folders
- External emulator launch configuration
- Custom app icons from local image files
- Icon pack support
- Persistent selected app and recent entries
- Gamepad, keyboard, and touch navigation
- Optional haptic feedback
- Optional sound effects
- Notification badge support
- Launcher backup export
- Default launcher setup shortcut
- Premium pass for advanced customization tools

Nitrodeck Launcher is designed for users who enjoy retro-style home screens, Android gaming setups, controller-first devices, compact handheld interfaces, and launchers that feel different from a standard phone home screen.

The app works offline for its core launcher features. Your preferences are stored locally on your device.

Cool Idea, but it needs LOTS of work. It's not very user friendly, the navigation is confusing and you can't really use or do anything without being prompted to pay. Needs to less confusing navigation and basic functions need to be free or no one is gonna buy something they can't even try because everything requires the purchase. It does look really cool though, I'll give it that.

Neat concept but it's pretty rough around the edges at this point. The top bar with the time and other info is not respecting the shape of the screen or the camera cutout on my Pixel 10a. The "bottom screen" elements are not centered but can be done so manually but it's a bit weird to work with as it seems there's no way to snap them to a grid like I'd kind of expect. I'll probably revisit this after a while to assess it again.

Thanks a lot for leaving a comment. I'm glad you like it! Regarding what you mentioned, just wait until version 1.1.0 comes out. I think you're going to love it! As for the top bar, you can actually customize it from the launcher's settings.

Super cool UI, very nostalgic. but if it is going to be used as a default ui it needs more customization options and some QOL features like a dark mode and the ability to make widgets and swap them for the picto chat and download play buttons. Also launching games from the games page currently does not work with retroarch, hopfully that will be fixed soon. otherwise really cool concept pulled off well, I hope its supported into the future.

What’s new

Version 1.0.9: update focused on Home editing, lower pages and the DSi experience. App pages now support grid snapping, centered auto-arrange, continuous page backgrounds, per-page reset and deletion of created pages. It also fixes folded-layout overlaps, portrait lock on Flip-style phones, classic warning-screen stability, catalog dialogs and smoother entry into the app list.
