Update: On the heels of the release of Nomorobo Max, I'm now starting to receive spam calls with "basic" service. One every day. I used to rarely receive a spam call. Clearly, "basic"service has been tweaked to provide degraded service, yet price increased!! Price increase is unwarranted. **UPDATE** Basic service just keeps getting worse. Too many calls getting through, ringing my phone before going to VM. VERY ANNOYING! Didn't use to be like this. Looking for a different service subscription.

Hi there! Nomorobo Basic and Nomorobo Max are separate services. Nomorobo Basic remains the same as it always has, and provides call blocking from 5+ million robocallers in our global blocklist. Nomorobo Max screens and analyzes ALL incoming unknown callers. For more information on the differences, please reach out to support@nomorobo.com.

It did seem to block a few annoying calls. I especially liked that it seemed to cut down on the local spoofed calls that I received. However, I had to delete the app and cancel the subscription because: 1) There was no log of calls blocked. It was impossible to tell if it was working well and blocking numbers that it should block, or if it was also blocking important numbers that I wanted to receive. I had a couple of instances of voicemails received from people when my phone never rang, leading me to suspect that Nomorobo sent some good numbers to voicemail. 2) Having the app installed eliminates the option to block numbers and report spam manually by long pressing the phone number in the Recents menu and selecting from the pop-up menu. Since it only blocks robocalls supposedly, it doesn't block other numbers that it can't identify correctly but are nevertheless spam. There's a report feature within the app, but it's not nearly as convenient or integrated.

I signed up for the app one year ago. For the first few months or so it worked well, but I've noticed in recent months that it was missing a large number of junk calls. So, I decided to review the call logs for the last 6 months. Over 6 months, Nomorobo had an 80% failure rate (it only blocked 20% of incoming junk calls). In the last 3 months it had an 88% failure rate, and in the last 30 days a 90% failure rate. Clearly something is slipping or they're not adapting to newer tactics. For some, $2/mo. for something that blocks even 10% of junk calls may be worth it. However, given that Netflix is able to offer a basic subscription for $9/mo. with the extremely high content costs they pay, the $2/mo for this unreliable and simple service seems outrageous by comparison. If this service were free, incurred a one-time cost, or was even a bit cheaper, I'd have a higher regard for it.
