Yet another news app saturated with annoying advertising and self promotion material. I wish they'd drop the annoying red scrolling ticker too. Way too many opinion pieces and stories that seem to stay in prominent places for days on end. You're unable to watch a video without an ad playing first, so at that point I ditch out. And you want us to pay for a Premium subscription? Sorry NZ Herald. Try again.

To my mind there's too much emphasis on local news in the main menu. I'd like more world news and important news given more emphasis. Another bug is the app continually locks me out of premium, even though I pay for it. Very irritating.

Version 7.3.2 addresses an issue specific to iPads running iOS 26.1 or higher. The implemented fix will retain your position on the homepage after entering and exiting an article. We appreciate your continued support and feedback.
