Meet HALO
HALO filters out the blue light that's hard on your eyes, and dims your screen to a comfortable level in the dark — so you can look at your phone before bed and still drift off naturally~ :-)

When to use it
- You want to cut the harmful blue light coming from your screen
- You want to dim the bright light that keeps you awake before bed
- Your phone's built-in blue light filter just doesn't feel like enough ^^;

Permissions we need
- Receive data from the internet: needed for in-app purchases and ads.

- Run at startup: needed to start HALO automatically when your device boots.
- Draw over other apps: needed to show the blue light filter on top of your screen.
- Keep the device from sleeping: needed to make sure your schedules run on time.
- Accessibility service: needed to extend the filter over the notification panel. (Optional — see below)

About the accessibility service
The notification panel is a system area a normal overlay can't cover, so we use the accessibility service for that one purpose only.
- We never read, collect, or store anything shown on your screen
- We don't subscribe to any accessibility events
- We never act on your behalf
It's optional. Leave it off and everything else in HALO works exactly the same, and you can turn it on or off anytime in the app's "Notification panel settings."

Good to know
- HALO runs as a foreground service (a background service with a persistent notification), so the system won't shut it down while you're using it.
- It never drains your battery on a timer or does anything unnecessary in the background, so you can use it with confidence~
- The 4 filter colors you can pick look different from the actual filter~ In practice HALO removes the blue tones and adds a little warmth, blocking harmful blue light effectively.

The free version is great! It can be hard to see and turn it off in daylight, but it works really well at night. HOWEVER (devs pls note!) I wouldn't purchase premium. I usually leave it on the setting it has, so it's not a big deal if I can't change brightness or color from the notification page. Trying to is quite annoying. The notification buttons aren't very responsive, and they use increments of 1. Please increase to at least 5, or bring up sliding bars with the color options when tapped.

The only features you unlock by paying $3.00 USD used to be free. Really disappointing. It should only be $1.00 as those features were once available. I eventually uninstalled it having used it on multiple phones for over a year. Don't get me wrong; I still love the app. It's a bit unfortunate that premium costs so much for so little. It's only a notification setting that's available. Again, it was once free. Not worth the entire $3.00 as priced.

I love this, it's my favorite blue light filter for the phone. HALO is the best one I've found for use on the phone. It has multiple settings for brightness and type of back light color. The only 2 things I dislike is that when you screenshot while it's turned on actually affects the screenshot, and the drop down menu on the phone isn't affected by the app, so it's super bright and hurts my eyes. Other than that it's great!
