About this app

✓ Twelve living fossils
✓ Twelve-step evolutionary timeline
✓ Eight-question trivia round
✓ Fully offline

Not every plant is new. A ginkgo in a city park is the last of a whole phylum. A Wollemi Pine in a Sydney canyon spent two hundred million years unknown to science. A dawn redwood turned up in a Sichuan village fifty years after it was described from fossils.

Paleora Ferns collects twelve of them — ginkgo, Wollemi, dawn redwood, cycads, horsetails, club mosses, tree ferns, welwitschia, Zamia, monkey puzzle, umbrella pine, whisk fern — each with its lineage, roughly when its group first appears in the fossil record, and a paragraph explaining why it is still here.

The Deep time tab sets those plants in context: twelve moments from the first photosynthesis in a single cell to the molecular systematics revolution that redrew the tree of plants in the twentieth century.

The Trivia tab draws eight questions from the same pool as the guide. Each answer is stored on this device; each answer reveals a paragraph of its own.

Nothing leaves the phone. There is no account. There is no ad SDK.
