About this app

Prime Kids: Child is the child-device app for the Prime Kids parental control service. A parent installs it on their child's phone and manages everything from the Prime Kids parent app — helping keep children safe online and build healthy screen-time habits.

What Prime Kids: Child does:

• Web content filtering — automatically blocks adult, gambling, violence and other harmful websites. Parents choose which categories to block and can add their own blocked or allowed sites. When a page is blocked, the child sees a clear "Site Blocked" message.

• Screen time management — parents set daily time limits and schedules (for example school hours or bedtime), so the device is usable only when it should be.

• App usage insight — parents see which apps are used and for how long.

• Location and safe zones — parents can see their child's location and get an alert when the child arrives at or leaves a safe zone such as home or school.

• SOS — in an emergency the child can send an instant alert with their location to the parent.

• Open and honest — the app always runs with a permanent notification and its own icon. It never hides, and is only for a parent to monitor their own child.

Web content filtering (VPN)

Prime Kids: Child uses Android's VpnService as a local, on-device VPN, used only to filter web content. It does not connect to any remote server and is not a general-purpose or privacy VPN. DNS requests are checked on the device against the categories the parent blocks; blocked sites are rejected locally. VpnService is needed to apply the filter across every browser and app, including ones using encrypted DNS (DNS-over-HTTPS) that would otherwise bypass it. Sites visited and blocked are shared with the parent's account over an encrypted connection, never sold or shared with third parties.

Monitoring disclosure

Prime Kids: Child is a parental control and monitoring app, for a parent or guardian to install on their own child's device with the child's knowledge. While running, it reports to the parent's account: websites visited and blocked, app usage and screen time, and device location (including in the background). It always shows a permanent notification and its own icon, never hides itself, and must not be used to monitor anyone else.
