Version 5.1! It works so well! This is the most crucial piece of software on my Android. I never would've guessed there was a separate 'direct' mode of wifi sharing that doesn't set off my carriers data counter. Here it is executed flawlessly. As I can't afford to be up charged 5 dollars every couple gigabytes (my bill would be over 1000 dollars), and my home internet options are 3mb DSL or Comcast, this app saves my ass big time.
It worked great...until a few days ago after an update. Even though my phone frequently gets 20 Mbps, my tethered laptop caps out at about 480Kbps. Looks like the "hide tether usage" option isn't working. Why do people feel the need to fix what isn't broken? UPDATE: Haven't heard back from tech support. Shouldn't have paid for this product. Oh, well.
So this app has done wonders for me in the past as of right now it's failing miserably the latest update doesn't have legacy support and its constantly dropping saying that my cable is bad when in fact I know it's not. I paid money for this app and whatever update its on has thoroughly screwed me. I live in the country and this is my ONLY option for access to the internet.
Love it! (I just wrote a 3x paragraph review before accidenly sliding this questionnaire to a previous page. When I slid it back, everything was still there, but only for a moment - as if to tease me... Anyway, here's what you get now! Enjoy!)
12-5-17: update to phone done, then downloaded windows pc program update, transferred pc update to laptop with some trouble. june shouldnt let this sequence occur, as had 2 uninstall latest app, restore older app, then transfer windows program to laptop, install. After finding, downloading windows program. will then have to reinstall latest app...later on 12-5-17: didnt work, pdanet not recognizing email/code to unlock. awaiting response from june. 12-7-17: now able to unlock. wl chek, possibly re-rate.
It worked real well until the latest update. Now it's constantly disconnecting either from my phone or on the PC. I hope they come out with a fix soon for the latest update. Yes I did pay for the app. It's not bad for the price. But it would be nice if I would not constantly get disconnected. I am using the Samsung Note 8. Thanks for the App. :)
Minor changes for 5.10 based on user requests: Rearranged UI to put USB mode on top; added link to FoxFi (previous WiFi Hotspot feature); added help menu for Chromebook; Fixed Mac USB connection.
