Fretbox: Guitar Tab Player

Pdevelop LLC

About this app

Open your Guitar Pro and MusicXML guitar tabs, hear them played and practise them slower, in a loop, with a metronome and a speed trainer.

Fretbox is a tab player for guitarists who already have their files and just want to practise them: no catalogue to browse, no account, no subscription and no ads.

★ OPEN YOUR OWN TABS
• Guitar Pro 3 to 7 (.gp3, .gp4, .gp5, .gpx, .gp), MusicXML (.musicxml, .xml, .mxl) and Capella (.cap).
• Tablature and standard notation together, with a cursor that follows the music.
• Every file you open is saved to your library, so it is there next time, even offline.

★ PRACTISE AT YOUR SPEED
• Play back at 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% speed.
• Loop the piece to repeat it hands-free.
• Metronome and count-in.
• Speed trainer: starts at 50% (or slower) and raises the tempo 5% every time the loop comes round, up to full speed.
• Mute or solo each track of a multi-track file to hear only your part, or play over the rest.

★ READY TO TRY
Includes four technique exercises written for the app (chromatic 1-2-3-4, spider, minor pentatonic, string skipping) and two public-domain melodies, Ode to Joy and Greensleeves, with our own tablature.

★ PRIVATE AND OFFLINE
• No account and no sign-in.
• No ads, no in-app purchases, no analytics.
• The score engine and the instrument sounds are built in: practice works without a connection.

Fretbox does not include or download songs by other artists: it plays the files you bring. The app interface is in English.
