Less scrolling. More living.
PeaceOfMind gives the apps that eat your day a time budget. Once it is used up, a calm break screen appears instead of the next feed.
THE KEY IS ON PAPER
More time is not one tap away. PeaceOfMind prints a QR code for you. Hang it somewhere the walk is inconvenient: the hallway, the cellar, the office. Only that code grants extra time. The walk is the point. It puts a moment of thought between the impulse and the next scroll.
WHAT YOU SET
• Which apps are accompanied
• How much time they get, per day, week or month
• A short reminder before the break begins
• How many minutes one scan grants
• Per app: its own times, its own code, or scan only
WHEN THE BREAK IS CLOSE
From the reminder on, the rule locks. A bigger number in the field would call the break off before it starts, so changing it needs the printed code as well. The same goes for switching the guard off, for taking an app off the list and for replacing the key itself. The first code is free, every later one needs the code in force.
NO ACCOUNT, NO CLOUD
Everything stays on the device. No sign-up, no profile, no usage data leaving the phone.
WHAT IT NEEDS
PeaceOfMind uses the Android accessibility service to see which app is in the foreground. That is all it reads: the name of the app in front. No screen content is read, stored or sent anywhere. It also needs "Display over other apps" for the break screen, and an exemption from battery optimisation so that counting stays exact.
HONEST ABOUT LIMITS
This is a hurdle, not a prison. Whoever really wants to can switch the accessibility service off or uninstall the app. PeaceOfMind is built for the moment of weakness, not against determination.
Free, no ads. Android 8 or newer.
Time limits for the apps that eat your day. Extra time only against a code.
