Pensum is a fast, private macro and calorie tracker for people who actually weigh their food: athletes, body recomposition, weight loss or muscle gain, and anyone tired of bloated diet apps that get in the way.
MEASURED, NOT GUESSED
Most apps hand you a formula and call it your TDEE. Pensum measures it. After a few weeks of diary and weigh-ins, your real expenditure is calculated from your own numbers, and it updates every time you step on the scale. A weekly check-in suggests a new target; you decide whether to apply it.
BUILT FOR SPEED
The everyday loop, weigh and search and log, is tuned to take as few taps as possible. A home screen widget puts today's calories and macros on your launcher, with search, barcode, voice, and photo logging two taps from there. No streaks, no badges, no 200-screen onboarding, no nagging. Open it, log it, done.
FOOD DATA THAT IS ACTUALLY RIGHT
Clean generic foods come first; branded noise stays behind them. USDA for US foods, with deep European coverage most apps skip (the German BLS and the Swiss Food Composition Database), and Open Food Facts barcodes on top. Search returns the food, not 40 packaged products, in English and German alike.
HONEST NUMBERS
Every search result says which database it came from and how many of the 18 tracked vitamins and minerals it actually reports, so you can choose the better entry before you log it. Calories, macros, and micronutrients are each flagged verified, partial, or estimated. A daily quality page checks fiber, free sugar, saturated fat, and sodium against WHO and DGE reference values and shows which foods drive each number. We never imply precision we do not have, least of all on a photo estimate.
WHAT YOU GET
• Gram-level manual logging in a clean food diary, fully editable
• Home screen widget: today's calories and macros on your launcher, one-tap logging, dark or light
• Generic-first food search that names its source and its data depth; barcode scanner via Open Food Facts
• Photo logging you control: say what you already know ("about 150 g beef, a little oil"), get an editable ingredient breakdown, and correct it yourself. No magic-button promises.
• Voice logging: tap the mic and say what you ate; the transcript stays editable before anything lands in your diary
• 18 vitamins and minerals tracked, with the foods behind each number a tap away
• AI estimates for missing micronutrients and free sugar, always marked as estimates, never overwriting measured values
• Scanned a product with wrong numbers? Re-scan the label and the correction applies to every day you logged it
• Import your history from Cronometer, MacroFactor, or MyFitnessPal, so you arrive already calibrated
• Saved meals and recipes: build once, log in one tap, with per-serving micronutrients composed from the actual ingredients
• Custom foods for anything missing
• Weight log with trend, energy balance, and macros by meal
• Optional goal weight with a projected arrival date, read from the pace your weigh-ins actually show
• A monthly recap you can share, drawn on your phone
• Calorie and macro targets: set them yourself or compute them from your stats
• Health Connect: sync weight and body fat, and optionally show your tracker's burned calories next to your intake
• Metric or imperial, English or German, dark or light
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Local-first. No account required. Your diary stays on your device. What leaves your phone is limited and specific: the photos, labels, recipes, and food names you choose to send for AI analysis; a food search or barcode when the built-in catalogue has no match, which goes to Open Food Facts; and anonymous usage stats (a per-install id, the app version, and which features you use, never what you eat or your body data). No ads, no third-party tracking, no selling your data.
