About this app

PIX4Dcatch is the tool for acquiring optimal ground images for photogrammetry. To generate 3D models, the collected images can be uploaded to PIX4Dcloud or exported to PIX4Dmatic. Both offer a 15-day trial to get started. The images can also be exported to any other photogrammetry software for free.
No need to be an expert. Walk around your area of interest and the app will record pictures along the way, together with GPS positions.
Images can be uploaded to PIX4Dcloud for the fast generation of scaled and georeferenced 3D models and point clouds that you can visualize, measure, share, and export. Or they can be exported locally for processing in PIX4Dmatic.

1 - Scan: Walk around the area of interest. PIX4Dcatch automatically records geotagged frames and displays on your screen real-time 3D meshing for scene completion feedback.
2a- Upload: Stop recording and automatically upload images to PIX4Dcloud to generate accurate and easy to share 3D models (requires a PIX4Dcloud subscription - free 15 day trial available).
2b - Or export: Transfer the images for free to a photogrammetry software such as PIX4Dmatic: add GCPs, process the images to get high-quality 3D models, and have complete control over the accuracy of the 3D models or 2D maps.
3 - Examine: Measure distances, areas, and volumes, and perform virtual inspections.
4 - Share: Selectively and securely share project data and insights with your team, clients, and suppliers.

Devices compatibility:
All ARCore enabled devices.

Google Play Services for AR needs to be installed in order to use the app.

Somewhat promising overall. While I don’t expect much out of smartphone app, it does its job well. However, was not able to take advantage of it. The scanning process itself was quite smooth, I took 551 pictures of my toaster, probably overkill, and the view looked very complete. In order to gain access to the processed view you have to make account. However, a bug prevented me from logging in via the app which meant I couldn't upload and process the images into a 3D model. Using a Samsung S10e.

Blueice Kman, We had another user with a similar issue. In their case, it was Firefox as the default browser. Could this be the same for you? Firefox is a compatible browser and normally works fine. Please see this thread for more info: https://community.pix4d.com/t/cannot-login-from-app-using-firefox-as-default-browser/22272

great concept and nice results but the app is finicky. I use a Samsung S21 Ultra 5G. the issue - when I scan a vehicle in an outdoor setting. the scan begins as a expected but once the app experiences an issue with texture or color, it presents a warning and will not recover. "Aim device at a surface with more texture or color". if I move to a known good position when it previously captured, the warning will not clear, nor will it resume regardless of where I point the device. I must restart.

Hi, We suspect that this is an issue with the device/subject matter and not the app. Please contact us at https://community.pix4d.com/c/pix4dcatch and we will help. Thanks!

I originally thought it was a data harvesting app due to required location services. Then I looked it up and it looks like a semi legit scanning service that sells seperate dedicated hardware. It seems like the cheapest plan they have according to their website is $160 a month. I would recommend anyone looking to spend that just buy a cheap laptop and get meshroom instead. They seem to have both the data harvesting and "enterprise" pricing at the same time to screw over users on both fronts.

Hi Kevin, Thanks for the review, just want to clarify that Location Services are not required for the app to work, although, given the subject matter, the majority of users need it. We encourage all users to research and test every tool to find what is right for their needs.
