Photograph a meal and see what it is made of: protein, carbohydrate and fat, with energy shown quietly as an honest range. Then, a few hours later, one short question — how did that sit? — kept next to the meal.
That pair, the plate and what followed it, is the whole app.
SNAP A PLATE
Point the camera at the food, or choose a photo. The plate is cut out of its background on your phone, and only that cut-out is sent for the estimate — not the whole photograph. You get the dish name, protein, carbs and fat, an energy range, and a portion you can change with one tap. If the read-out is wrong, fix it; your correction is the one that is kept.
I ATE THIS, OR JUST CURIOUS
Every read-out starts as "I ate this". One tap switches it to "Just curious": you see the same nutrition, and nothing is saved — no journal entry, no photo, no check-in. Useful at a menu, a buffet or someone else's plate.
HOW DID THAT SIT?
About two hours after a meal, and again later in the day, Plateknow asks one quiet question. Answer from the notification or in the app: overall, energy, mood, digestion, focus and fullness. Skip it and nothing happens — a blank stays blank.
PATTERNS FROM YOUR OWN ANSWERS
After enough meals and check-ins, the weekly recap tells you what appeared together: for example, that on the days you logged something sweet, you rated your later energy lower than after other meals. It is your record read back to you, compared against your own average. Recorded together — not a cause.
A CALM FOOD DIARY
- Timeline: every meal and how it sat, day by day
- Today: protein, carbs and fat so far
- Plates: a month of meals as a photo gallery
- No streaks, no scores, no badges, and nothing turns red
NUMBERS ARE OPTIONAL
One switch removes every calorie, gram and percentage from every screen. The photographs, dish names and check-ins all stay, and the app never asks you to turn the numbers back on. Kilojoules are available too.
YOUR DATA
- No account and no password
- Your journal lives on your phone and in your own Android backup (photos stay out of it)
- Export a spreadsheet and a full archive at any time, free
- Deleted meals wait 30 days in Recently deleted; "Delete everything" removes it all
- English and Traditional Chinese
