π How to Guide: Setting Up Your Master Key
Because Secure Vault is offline, your Master Key is the only way to decrypt your data. We cannot recover it for you if you lose it.
Attacking Your Master Password is the only realistic attack vector. If an attacker managed to get a copy of your phone's data, they could find the file containing your encrypted vault and the password-encrypted DEK. Their goal would then be to guess your Master Password.
If your password is weak (e.g., "password123", "88888888"), it could be cracked in seconds or minutes using modern password-cracking tools.
If your password is strong (e.g., a long passphrase with a mix of words, numbers, and symbols like the one suggested in the app's setup), it becomes exponentially harder to crack. A strong 12+ character password could take centuries or millennia to brute-force.
In summary: The security of your vault relies on two things: the proven strength of the AES-256 algorithm and, most importantly, the strength and secrecy of your Master Password.

π How to Guide: Portable Backup & Restore (Pro)
Switching phones or want to keep a safe copy of your vault? The Portable Backup feature allows you to export your entire encrypted database as a single, secure text string.
How to Backup:
Unlock your vault and tap the Export (Cloud Upload) icon.
Confirm your Master Key.
The app will generate a highly encrypted text string. Copy this string and save it somewhere safe (like a local notes app, an external hard drive, or a physical piece of paper).
How to Restore (CRITICAL RULE):
Install Secure Vault on your new device.
β οΈ You MUST set up the new app using the EXACT SAME Master Key you used on the old device. If the Master Keys do not match, the backup cannot be decrypted.
Tap the Import (Cloud Download) icon.
Paste your backup string and confirm your Master Key. Your vault will instantly populate.
