The DASH Diet is for preventing and lowering hypertension, as well as encouraging natural healthy weight loss.

DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. The main goal of the diet is to prevent and lower high blood pressure, although there are some other beneficial "side-effects" such as weight loss. It is a heart health recommended diet and the best for high blood pressure along with healthy weight loss.

The DASH diet is rich in fruits, vegetables, fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products, whole grains, fish, poultry, beans, seeds, and nuts. It also contains less salt and sodium; sweets, added sugars, and sugar-containing beverages; fats; and red meats than the typical American diet. This heart healthy way of eating is also lower in saturated fat, trans fat, and cholesterol and rich in nutrients that are associated with lowering blood pressure—mainly potassium, magnesium, and calcium, protein, and fiber.

The DASH eating plan doesn't require any special foods or supplements like a lot of homeopathic diets. It simply calls for a certain number of daily servings from various food groups. The number of servings depends on the number of calories you’re allowed each day. Your calorie level depends on your age and, especially, how active you are. You will also limit your sodium levels to either 2300mg or 1500mg each day. The less salt you eat, the more you may be able to lower your blood pressure.

I just started using the Dash Diet app a few days ago. I like it overall, but the Dash Macro feature doesn't seem to work very well. It is difficult to set up. Print overwrites other print on the screen so you can't read it. There is not much instruction on use, nor is there any support. I'm still going to try it a few more days to see if I can figure out the bugs. It could be a great app.

It's ok. Functional and works well for small use casual need. Custom foods is just an alphanumeric list that can grow unmanageable over time. The food database is 90% wrong. Bar codes is 50/50 to get the correct item but I'm ot sure if that is the app or the codes. Looking for a better system after 2 months use.

Let me tell you! This app is the most helpful app on my phone. I couldn't give my wife the care she deserves without it. See, she has diabetes and non alcoholic cirrhosis, prayfully recovering to recompensed. I have to strictly manage her diet, sodium 2000mg, protein 70 grams min, and 2000 calories daily. There's no way I could manage without this app. It's easy to use, and the bar scan is a real timesaver. The database is replete with solid content. Thank you! My hat is off!
