About this app

Turn any piece of paper into a clean PDF in seconds — and keep it on your phone.

SnapDoc uses your camera to find the page, straighten it and clean it up, then saves it as a sharp PDF you can share anywhere. Text recognition reads the words off the page so you can copy them, search them, hear them read aloud or save them as a text file. And when the file you need to fix is already on your phone, a full set of PDF and image tools is built in.

SCANNING

• Scan documents, receipts, notes, contracts and ID cards
• Finds the edges of the page and straightens it, however you were holding the phone
• Filters that turn a photo of a page into a scan: Auto, Document, Grayscale, Black & White, Magic Color
• Multi-page scanning — one document, as many pages as you need
• Dedicated ID card and book modes
• Read QR codes and barcodes

TEXT RECOGNITION

• OCR pulls the words off the page so you can copy, search or save them
• Save the recognised text as a .txt file
• Read aloud — have the page read back to you while you do something else

PDF AND IMAGE TOOLS

• Merge several PDFs into one, in the order you choose
• Split a PDF — every so many pages, each page on its own, or just the pages you pick
• Extract the pages you want out of a PDF
• Add page numbers — corner or centre, "1", "1 / 8" or "Page 1 of 8", with the cover skipped if you want
• Rotate every page
• Compress a PDF to make the file smaller
• Image to PDF, and PDF back out to JPG or PNG
• Compress an image, or convert between JPG, PNG and WebP
• Merge several photos into one picture — stacked, side by side or in a grid
• PDF or image to text, with the same recogniser the camera uses
• Convert a video to MP4, or pull the audio out of it
• Study Handout — lay 2 or 4 pages onto one A4 sheet, fitted so nothing is cropped

These tools work on files already on your phone and do not need a camera or a network.

ORGANISE AND SHARE

• Search, rename, tag and sort into folders
• Filter by type — work, receipts, personal
• Export as PDF, JPG or PNG, at the quality you choose
• Send it through your phone's own share sheet, or print it
• Ten colour themes, light and dark

YOUR DOCUMENTS STAY ON YOUR DEVICE

Scanning, cleaning, text recognition, PDF creation and every tool above happen on your phone. Your documents are never uploaded to us — there is no account to create and no cloud to sign into. When you want to send something, you choose where it goes through your phone's own share sheet.

SnapDoc is supported by ads, so the app does connect to the internet to show them. That is the only thing that uses the connection — your scans, your text and your file names never leave the device.

You can also hide your documents from screenshots and the app switcher with one setting, because a scan is often an ID or a bank statement.

BUILT TO BE SMALL

SnapDoc is a small download that runs well on an ordinary phone. No sign-up, no subscription wall in front of scanning, no watermark on your pages.

Camera scanning, text recognition and QR reading use Google Play services. The PDF, image and video tools do not.
Scan to PDF, extract text with OCR, merge and compress. All on your device.
