Great app to test your WiFi router with its LAN test. It helped me realise how bad ISP routers are here in Ukraine, so I get a better one.
If you have fast WiFi, the max message size is too small to saturate it on a single connection with normal WiFi latency, at least with the current buffer size/other settings assuming it has to wait for each message to get an acknowledgement, so testing what you can get from a single connection without adjusting that isn't giving you your true bandwidth. Pinging my phone gets about a 1.7ms response. Because of this, it is telling me I get ~140Mbps in each direction from the TCP test, but 450Mbps UDP upload. The UDP download fails as soon as there is a single lost packet. 500+ Mbps UDP upload, 360Mbps UDP download for about 10 seconds using a 1KB message block until it drops a packet. Fix the TCP test to either use multiple connections or increase the window size with selective ACK, and make the UDP test more fault tolerant. Either of these would be +1 star. Both would be 5 stars. Edit: Originally I thought the slower TCP throughput was due to window size, but it looks more likely due to the app message size limit or buffer size.
On 5ghz, I can only manage around 150 Mbps with a Max of around 240 Mbps at times (usually, I get a higher speed just after I restart the router). The link speed is 433 Mbps. This is between a galaxy s5 and HTC m9. Don't know if the devices are the bottleneck or if there's some other issue. Can't test the computer coz I have a macbook and couldn't figure out how to connect it.
Seems to well. Been using app to troubleshoot wifi issues.
Useful, use it all the time in training.
Does what it says. SAMBA share testing is useful as well.
