About this app

Junktrack Monitoring is a field companion app for environmental researchers and operators working on marine litter monitoring campaigns. It is part of the Junk Tracker (JT) integrated system, designed to track microplastic and debris dispersion in marine environments using autonomous GPS-equipped jars.

KEY FEATURES

Barcode Scanner: Quickly scan tracker IMEI codes using your device camera to identify and register GPS jars in the field.

GPS Throw Recording: Automatically capture precise GPS coordinates when releasing a tracker into the water, with timestamp and location accuracy data.

Litter Photo Documentation: Take geotagged photos of marine litter and debris. GPS coordinates are automatically embedded in image metadata for accurate mapping.

Offline-First Design: Collect data in the field without an internet connection. All throws and photos are queued locally and automatically synchronized when connectivity is restored.

Real-Time Tracker Monitoring: View tracker positions and status in real time, organized by groups and campaigns.

Secure Authentication: Access your organization's data with secure login credentials managed by your team administrator.

HOW IT WORKS

Log in with the credentials provided by your organization administrator.
Scan a tracker barcode to identify the GPS jar.
Release the tracker and the app records the exact GPS location and time.
Document nearby litter by taking geotagged photos.
Data syncs automatically to the central platform when online.
BUILT FOR THE FIELD

Junktrack Monitoring is designed for outdoor use in challenging conditions. The offline-first architecture ensures no data is lost, even in areas with poor or no network coverage. Data is stored securely on your device and uploaded as soon as a connection is available.

Your data is protected with encrypted local storage and secure authentication. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers. All collected data is transmitted exclusively to our servers for scientific research purposes. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.
