About this app

This is the official Racing Weight Diet Quality Score App, now with the ability to save your DQS data for as long as you want and view graphs of your progress over time!

This app allows you to calculate your daily Diet Quality Score (DQS) as described in Matt Fitzgerald's book, Racing Weight.

The Diet Quality Score is a simple instrument that allows athletes to measure the overall quality of their diet. The DQS Mobile app was designed to make it as easy as possible to calculate a Diet Quality Score each day.

As you eat throughout the day, enter the servings of each category of food that you consume. Tap a box to consume one serving of that category, tap it again and it will become a half serving, and one more tap will set it back to zero for that box. You can tap the category name to view an explanation of what foods fall under that category. Your total DQS score for the day is shown in the upper right corner of the page. DQS data is saved for each day you track it.

You can also log your weight on the bottom of the Tracking page. We recommend you log your weight no more than once per week.

The Graphs page lets you see how you are doing with your Diet Quality Score over time. You can view your data over the last week, month or year. When viewing yearly data, it is displayed as 52 week-long averages. You can view graphs showing your total DQS, your weight, or your DQS score by specific category.

You can set a target weight and a target DQS score on the Profile page.

I bought this app a couple of years ago, and even though it had a few annoying bugs to it, it worked fine. I have switched to a new phone and it will not allow me to sign in. It just states invalid username/password. I have repeatedly sent a forgot password message. I have never received any reply. I emailed the problem to the developers and again no reply. It would be nice if the developers would stand behind the products they charge for.

This app is helpful overall, but there are a couple of obvious improvements that could be made. 1) Add a body fat percentage metric. It's more than a little bit surprising that this is absent, especially in light of the importance given this measurement in the companion book (Racing Weight). 2) More specific guidance regarding how to score particular foods. Tapping on the categories gives general guidelines regarding what is included in each category, but a searchable database of specific foods would be a big plus. For example, I am uncertain how to score cacao powder or gelatin powder that I sometimes add to smoothies... This second feature might be a lot to ask, but the BFP metric shouldn't be a big deal.

Worked in a mediocre fashion until recently. Required me to reauthenticate and won't accept any password I generate and reset it to. Validation seems to be happening instantly in the app, not server side. Seems like some change to the form validation that the app literally does not tell you how to fix. Completely unusable.
