About this app

The RadBeacon™ app is the configuration utility for RadBeacon proximity beacons from Radius Networks that support Apple's iBeacon™ proximity services and the AltBeacon proximity services for Android devices.

The RadBeacon app from Radius Networks requires an Android device running Android 4.3 or higher and equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 capabilities.

With the RadBeacon app you can scan for nearby Radius Networks beacons. Once discovered, if the beacon is configurable, you can display each beacon's operating settings and make modifications to those settings.

You can't find any helpful documentation. You can't configure the name of the beacon, it always reverts back to 'RBDot'. Distance configuration is a pain, you have to allot at least 30 minutes per beacon to get the optimal -Tx reading, even then the beacon still spits inaacurate distance readings regardless of path loss. Expect your dev projects to be late if this is the beacon you have invested in.

McDonald's got these locators on their order numbers to help their high school dropouts find the order number displayed in big black bold font on a white piece of plastic. Your product failed them because the cashier couldn't find me, I was ten feet away.

Total JUNK! With 30 years of networking and wireless experience this is perhaps the worst piece of equipment and documentation I have ever seen. The claims of iBeacon, EddyStone, AltBeacon connectivity are useless as the app crashes 100% of the time on a Pixel XL with pure Android and the latest updates/patches applied. In order to even get the unit to turn on I had to remove and reinstall the battery, once recognized by my phone the device was incapable of completing the pairing to program the Beacon Dot. It fails at the hardware level, it fails at the software level and fails at the claims and support level. Do NOT buy the RadBeacon Dot.
