Walking Map is a map that is filled only with "neighborhoods you have actually walked through."
■ Areas passed by by car are not filled in
Apps that rely solely on GPS coordinates can cover the entire country with just a single KTX ride. Walking Map, however, is determined by the number of steps taken. It is not filled in even if the train stops at a station or the car is stopped at a traffic light. It is filled in only when you get off at a rest area and start walking.
■ Location does not leave this phone
Walking Map does not send coordinates to a server. It has not created a space to send them. Even if backup is enabled, only the "names and numbers of filled areas" are uploaded.
■ Use without logging in
An account is optional. All functions work exactly as they do without logging in. Your records remain on your phone, and the account is merely a backup placed on top of them.
■ Opens even without a signal
Map data is stored within the app. Your map is visible even in the mountains, on the subway, or in airplane mode.
■ The entire Republic of Korea
It includes all 3,558 administrative districts and 256 cities, counties, and districts. The neighborhoods you walk are collected in a guidebook, and statistics show "what kind of person am I?"
■ Why is background location permission required?
It is because it records your neighborhood while you walk with the phone in your pocket. It is only meaningful if your walking history remains even when the app is not open. Those coordinates are used only within this phone and are not transmitted anywhere else.
You have to walk to fill it up. That is all there is to it.
A map that fills up by walking. Areas passed by by car are not filled in — because it is determined by the number of steps.
