About this app

Learn Arabic with 42,500+ real videos from native speakers, in the dialect you want. From beginner to advanced.

Reelang looks like a normal short video feed, except it adapts to your level of Arabic. You watch real TikToks, YouTube Shorts, Reels, vlogs and street interviews from across the Arab world, and we add new ones all the time.

You scroll. Reelang keeps finding Arabic you can understand.

The Arabic your textbook skipped

Many learners study Modern Standard Arabic for years, then find they cannot follow a normal conversation. That is because nobody talks like the news. Spoken Arabic is dialect: Egyptian in Cairo, Levantine in Beirut and Damascus, Darija in Casablanca, Khaleeji in the Gulf.

This feed is clips Arabic speakers made for each other, slang and speed included. Nothing here was recorded for learners.

Pick the Arabic you are actually learning

Most apps teach one Arabic. Reelang lets you choose.

• Egyptian Arabic (Masri), the Arabic of Egyptian film and TV
• Levantine Arabic (Shami): Lebanese, Syrian, Palestinian and Jordanian speakers
• Gulf Arabic (Khaleeji): Saudi, Emirati and other Gulf speakers
• Moroccan Arabic (Darija)
• Iraqi, Algerian, Tunisian and Yemeni Arabic
• Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha), when you want the formal register too

Pick one or several. The feed shows only the Arabic you chose, and you can change it whenever you like.

Starting from zero?

No Arabic yet, start anyway. The feed opens with Arabic for beginners, short clips with slower and clearer speech, and picks up speed as you do.

A feed that grows with you

Reelang picks videos at your level, so the speech stays real and you can still follow it. When a clip runs away from you, Focus takes it sentence by sentence.

If you know the term comprehensible input, that is the idea. Real Arabic you can almost always understand, with enough new in it to keep learning.

Smart Subtitles show you what to learn first

Not every word is worth your time. Smart Subtitles tell you which ones are. You see whether a word is among the 500, 1,000 or 2,000 most common words in Arabic, and anything rarer shows its exact rank.

Use subtitles. Then hide them.

When a clip begins to feel easy, hide the subtitles and listen again. Some videos have subtitles burned into the image. A normal player cannot take those off the screen. Reelang can. Hide them and you are only listening, not reading.

Learn vocabulary where people actually use it

A word sticks when you hear a real person use it in a real situation. Instead of working through lists, you meet new Arabic words inside real clips, slang included. Every clip is labelled with where it comes from, so you know which Arabic you are hearing. Want longer on one video? Open Focus: no text first, then a check, then word by word. Tap a word to keep it for review.

Grew up hearing Arabic?

Set the feed to your family's dialect and hear the Arabic from home, at the speed people really talk.

The fun part is the part that teaches

Reelang is built on videos people would watch anyway: funny clips, stories, street interviews, everyday life. Not a lesson dressed up as entertainment, but real entertainment in Arabic with the learning tools around it. That is why opening the app tomorrow does not take discipline.

Getting ready for a listening test?

The ALPT and ACTFL listening tests measure the same thing: understanding real Arabic the first time you hear it. Reelang is not an exam course, but hours of Arabic at natural speed is what this feed already is. Use it as Arabic listening practice.

Reelang+ is optional. It gives you unlimited Learner Insights explaining grammar, slang and why people say things the way they do (free accounts get a couple a day). It also brings your vocabulary back in new clips so the words stick, and unlocks your full Reelang Chart.

You can still watch and learn without Reelang+.
