Roamkeep is family location sharing without the company in the middle.
Most family trackers keep your household's movements on the company's
servers. Roamkeep keeps them on yours: your family creates its own private
database, and your locations go there and nowhere else. We can't see where
you are. Not as a promise, but because nothing we run ever receives it. The
only service we operate is a small relay that wakes phones with an empty
message; it never sees names, places or locations.
WHAT IT DOES
• Live family map: see where everyone is, updated as they move
• Saved places: Home, School, Work, Grandma's
• Arrive and leave alerts: know when your child gets to school without
having to ask, and choose whose alerts you get for each place
• 7-day history: a per-day timeline of trips and stays, then it deletes
itself
• SOS: one button tells everyone in the family, urgently
• Battery modes: from dense tracking to power saver, you choose
BUILT SO THAT WE CANNOT SPY ON YOU
• Your family's own database. You create it, you hold the keys, you pick the
region it lives in, and you can delete the lot in one go.
• No analytics. No advertising. No trackers. No crash reporting. Nothing
about you is sent to us.
• Notifications are content-free. To wake your phone we send a signal that
contains no words at all. Your phone then reads the details from your own
database and writes the notification itself. Even the notification
service never learns what happened.
• Row-level security in the database means a family's data is unreadable to
anyone outside it, even with a modified app.
• Source-available. You can read the code and check every claim on this page.
BUILT FOR FAMILIES, NOT FOR SURVEILLANCE
Everyone in a Keep can see everyone else; there are no one-way watchers.
Adults can pause their own sharing for an hour, two, or the rest of the
evening. A permanent notification shows whenever location is being
recorded, so nobody is tracked without knowing. If an owner changes what
someone can do, that person is told. New members wait for an owner to
approve them, so a forwarded invite is a request, not a way in. Anyone can
disconnect their phone, and the family sees that they did.
WHAT IT COSTS
Nothing. No ads, no paid features, and nothing held back.
WHAT YOU NEED
Everyone who shares their location needs an Android phone. One person sets
up your family's database from their own phone, with a free Supabase
account, in about five minutes. They then share an invite with everyone
else.
LOCATION IN THE BACKGROUND
Roamkeep collects location data to show your position on your family's map
and to send arrive/leave alerts, including when the app is closed or not in
use. This is the app's core purpose: alerts that only worked while you had
the app open would not be useful. You are asked for this explicitly, it is
explained before you are asked, and you can turn it off at any time.
Private family location sharing. Your Family. Your Keep. Your Data.
