Tome is a personal reading environment for everything you want to read — books, papers, and documents — on iOS and Android.
Import a file and it becomes part of your library: read it comfortably, annotate it, listen to it, and pick up exactly where you left off. Everything is stored on your device. There's no account, no network call in the reading path, and no feature that stops working offline.
READ ANYTHING
PDF, EPUB, TXT, Markdown, HTML, DOCX, RTF, and CSV are all supported natively. Legacy .doc files are recovered on a best-effort basis. Unsupported files import cleanly and explain themselves rather than failing silently.
A READER BUILT FOR ACTUAL READING
Choose continuous scroll or true pagination, with full control over typeface, size, line and paragraph spacing, margins, and alignment. Three page themes — light, sepia, and dark — are independent of the app's own theme, plus a brightness control. Jump around with a table of contents, in-document search, chapter and page navigation, and a progress scrubber.
NOTES AND BOOKMARKS THAT SURVIVE EVERYTHING
Attach notes to a passage or to the whole document, and set named bookmarks. Because locations are stored structurally — not by page number — your annotations survive changing the font size, rotating the device, or switching between scroll and paged modes. Every note and bookmark jumps back to its exact spot.
READ ALOUD, LIKE AN AUDIOBOOK
Sentence-level text-to-speech plays, pauses, skips by chapter, and rewinds or fast-forwards by time, with adjustable speed and voice and automatic advance through the document. The sentence being read is highlighted on the page as it plays. Alongside your platform's built-in voices, an optional offline neural voice pack (Piper, via sherpa-onnx) offers noticeably more natural narration than the standard system voice.
A LIBRARY THAT STAYS ORGANIZED
Group documents into collections (a document can belong to several), tag and favourite them, sort however you like, and search across both your library's metadata and the text of your own notes. A reading history tracks your time, sessions, and activity over time.
Tome keeps everything local by design — your library, your notes, and your reading history never leave your device.
Your offline reading library: PDF, EPUB, notes, bookmarks, and read-aloud.
