About this app

You've installed a blocker before. Then, late one night, you uninstalled it.

SelfGuard is a porn blocker and content blocker built for that night. You choose how long a block runs, and until it expires you can't shorten it, end it, or delete your way out of it.

Turn on uninstall protection and Android itself refuses to remove SelfGuard. Not a warning screen you can tap past — the system says no, until you switch that protection off yourself. And if the app ever does come off your phone, reinstalling brings every lock back at its original expiry, not a fresh clock.

WHAT YOU CAN BLOCK
Block porn, the apps that pull you back, and the feeds built to keep you scrolling:
• Porn sites and adult content, in your browser
• Adult searches — blocked, with something better offered instead
• Any app on your phone — social media, games, whatever pulls you back
• Keywords — block screens showing a word you choose
• Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels (Facebook app) and YouTube Shorts
• Browsers we can't filter — locked out, rather than left open as a way around
• Network protection (Private DNS) — forces Safe Search and filters adult sites at the network level, with no VPN app needed

WHY IT HOLDS WHEN YOU DON'T
• The system refuses the uninstall. Not us. Android.
• A block can't be shortened or ended early. Only the you who set it gets a vote.
• Clearing data or reinstalling brings your locks back, at their original expiry.
• Your accountability email — yours, or a friend's — is verified once, and it is what restores those locks.
• Changing your phone's date or time won't end a block early.

We'll be honest with you: this is friction and accountability, not impossibility. Android always leaves a way out of any app, uninstall protection included, and we won't pretend otherwise. What SelfGuard takes away is the easy exit — the one you reach for at 2am and regret at 8.

MORE THAN A BLOCKER
Built to help you quit porn for good, not just get through tonight. Track your streak. Hit your milestones. Check in daily. Write down your reason for starting, and SelfGuard puts it back in front of you the moment an urge hits. Slipped? Reset without the lecture and keep going.

It works as a focus app and screen time tool too: silence the apps and feeds that eat your evening, start a focus session, get your time back. A website blocker, app blocker and porn blocker in one.

FREE TO START
Core blocking is free, including locks up to 3 days and uninstall protection itself. You never have to pay to make a block actually hold. A paid tier with longer locks is planned, but it isn't on sale yet, and nothing you have today goes away when it arrives.

HOW SELFGUARD BLOCKS
SelfGuard uses Android's AccessibilityService API — the only way an app can do this job. The service reads what's on your screen: the app you're in, the web address, and visible text. That's how it knows you've opened something you asked it to block, so it can show the block screen instead.

It reads only to make that check, on your phone, in the moment. Nothing is recorded, stored or sent anywhere. SelfGuard explains this in the app before asking, and you switch the service on yourself in Android's settings.

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT YOU
Almost nothing, and that's deliberate. Blocking runs on your phone, and what's stored there is encrypted. No ads, no tracking. What leaves your phone is your accountability email and the blocks you set — the keywords and apps you chose, and when each lock ends — used to verify that email, send partner alerts, and restore your locks if the app is removed. Uninstall protection uses Android's Device Admin API, and SelfGuard asks it for no powers at all: it cannot lock your screen, change your PIN or fingerprint, erase anything, track your location, or read your files.

You already made the decision. SelfGuard is the content blocker that makes it stick.
