SelfGuard is a porn blocker and content blocker built for that night. You choose how long a block runs, and until it ends you can't shorten it, stop it, or delete your way out of it.
Turn on uninstall protection and Android itself refuses to remove SelfGuard. Not a warning screen you can tap past: the system says no until you switch that protection off yourself. And if the app ever comes off your phone, reinstalling brings every lock back at its original end time.
WHAT YOU CAN BLOCK
Block porn, the apps that pull you back and the feeds built to keep you scrolling:
• Porn sites and adult content in your browser
• Adult searches, with something better offered instead
• Any app: social media, games, whatever pulls you back
• Keywords: any screen showing a word you choose
• Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels (Facebook app) and YouTube Shorts, while the rest of each app keeps working
• Browsers we can't filter, locked so they can't become a way around
• Network protection (Private DNS): forces Safe Search and filters adult sites at the network level, no VPN app needed
WHY IT HOLDS WHEN YOU DON'T

HOW SELFGUARD BLOCKS
SelfGuard uses Android's AccessibilityService API, the only way an app can do this job. The service reads what's on your screen (the app you're in, the web address and visible text) to recognise what you asked it to block and show the block screen instead. It checks on your phone, in the moment: screen content is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere. SelfGuard explains this before asking, and you switch the service on yourself in Android's settings.
WHAT LEAVES YOUR PHONE
Your email, plus your Google account ID if you sign in with Google (we don't keep the name Google sends). A one-way hash of this phone's ID, plus its make, model and Android and app versions. Your accountability email, your blocks (apps, keywords and end times), a regular signal that SelfGuard is running and any Premium purchase. They sign you in, alert your partner if SelfGuard goes quiet during a lock, and restore your locks. On your phone, SelfGuard's data is encrypted. Uninstall protection uses Android's Device Admin API with no powers at all: SelfGuard cannot lock your screen, change your PIN, erase anything, track your location or read your files.
