About this app

You know the reflex. Your thumb finds the same app before you've even decided to open it. Respiro gently breaks that loop.

The apps you open most out of habit don't sit in a fixed spot waiting to be tapped. They quietly drift across your home screen, slipping away from the path your thumb already knows. Reaching them takes a single beat of intention — and that beat is often enough to ask yourself: do I actually want this right now?

Respiro means "breath" in Italian. That's the whole idea: a small pause, a calmer relationship with the phone in your hand, and a little more room to choose.

How it works:

• Evasion: Every home app is a calm, breathing shape, not an icon in a grid. The more reflexively you open an app, the farther it scatters and wanders. Your genuine tools stay easy to reach. Your time sinks quietly slip away.

• One breath: Mark the apps that pull you in, and opening one asks for a single slow breath first. A small pause between impulse and action.

• The Root: Swipe up to a quiet showcase of the good, not the damage. See your screen-off time, your longest unbroken pause, your offline rhythm through the day, and a week of time spent away from the phone. It celebrates the space you reclaim instead of shaming the time you spend.

• Calm by design: No notification badges, no red dots, no noise begging for a tap. Just expressive shapes that breathe on a still, dark canvas.

• Find anything: A search lens surfaces any app in a moment, so nothing is ever truly lost, only one intentional step away.

Privacy first:

Respiro reads your on-and-off phone rhythm without any special permission. It doesn't request usage access, it doesn't track what you do inside other apps, and your data never leaves your device. The rhythm behind the Root is measured simply by when your screen turns on and off.

Free and Premium:

Keep up to 5 apps on your home screen for free. Premium raises that to 8, unlocks every color theme and block shape, and opens your weekly offline statistics.

Premium is a one-time purchase. No subscription, ever.

Optional accessibility permission:

Respiro includes an optional Premium feature, "double-tap to lock," that locks your screen when you double-tap the home. To perform the lock, this feature uses Android's AccessibilityService (GLOBAL_ACTION_LOCK_SCREEN).

The service is inert: it never reads your screen, never observes your activity, and collects no data. It's used only to lock the screen, and only if you turn the feature on. You can disable it any time from Android's accessibility settings.

Respiro. A small pause between impulse and action.
The launcher that outsmart your muscle memory, so every app open is a choice.

Finally a different kind of minimalist launcher! It's simple, "slow" (like a slow lifestyle), and calming. It works better for me than all the other "minimalist" launchers I've tried. I'd add a sixth star if I could because (1) it's a one time payment for premium (I don't want another subscription service!) and (2) i contacted the company when I had a question about a setting and they replied and helped me quickly.

This is a launcher that I'm actually using a lot and it's helping me reduce my screen time and spot those times when I mindlessly go on my phone. It is very calming and has a beautiful and creative design, and despite all the limitations Android has for third-party launchers, the animations are well thought and perfectly implemented. In future updates, I would love to see a setting to pin some apps that we sometimes need to open quickly, like phone, or camera. Thank you for creating the app :)

Really love the minimalism of Respiro. It’s simple without looking ugly like many other minimalist launchers. I just wish it had an app usage timer—something always visible while using an app, with a limit that locks the app once the time is up. Also, it would be awesome if it could customize the lock screen too. If it eventually became a complete minimalist theme, that’d be amazing!

Thank you for your feedback!!
