About this app

ShepherdCares consists of a CareHub containing integrated modules that help users manage the caregiving experience. These modules currently include the following:
CareTeam
CarePoints
LockBox
MedList
VitalStats
Messages
Resources

ShepherdCares enables the account holder — the CareTeam Leader — to assemble a CareTeam: family, friends, and medical, legal and financial experts whom the CareTeam Leader invites with an email invitation from within the app. If appropriate, the Loved One may also be included in the CareTeam.

The CareTeam Leader assigns permission levels to individual CareTeam members to allow or restrict access to specific modules of the app.

The CarePoints module enables CareTeam members to create, assign and communicate about tasks, and create discussions. This is a calendar-based module. The user schedules tasks on a visible calendar, moves forward and backward, and easily finds scheduled past and future events. CarePoints automatically issues reminders to participants about upcoming tasks and events.

The LockBox module enables the CareTeam Leader to securely store and share digital files of important medical and legal documents. Access permission can be assigned to each CareTeam Member for each individual document. The CareTeam Leader may also give temporary permission for specific CareTeam Members to upload files.

The MedList module schedules and tracks medications and related information. It issues optional reminders when medications are due to be taken, administered, or refilled.

The VitalStats module interfaces with IoT devices (such as the Apple Watch) and remotely monitors vital signs so that the CareTeam Leader knows the health status of her Loved One in real time.

The Messages module has direct and group messaging capabilities. It sends messages within the app, and alerts users by email to important messages.

The Resources module currently receives a news feed with subject matter aligned to the Loved Ones’ health condition, which has been entered into the Loved One’s profile in Create Loved One. This module will also be used for sponsored content.

The ShepherdCares app will allow users to manage multiple Loved Ones each with their own CareTeam. We will limit this initially to three Loved Ones, with additional Loved One management available as a premium or in-app purchase.
