Mobile Application for Post-Operative Rehabilitation Following Total Knee Replacement Surgery
Introduction
Total knee replacement (TKR) is one of the most common and effective surgical procedures for patients suffering from advanced osteoarthritis (OA). This condition often leads to severe pain, restricted joint mobility, and impaired quality of life. TKR is highly effective in restoring physical function, reducing joint-related pain, and improving overall mobility, making it a gold-standard treatment for end-stage OA. However, the success of TKR is not solely dependent on the surgery itself; post-operative rehabilitation and patient education play a critical role in achieving optimal outcomes.
Post-operative rehabilitation involves a comprehensive program designed to improve joint strength, restore range of motion, and promote functional recovery. Patient adherence to prescribed rehabilitation exercises and protocols is essential for preventing complications such as stiffness, poor joint function, or surgical failure. However, adherence remains a challenge due to limited access to physical therapists, lack of understanding of recovery protocols, or inadequate motivation.
Recognizing these challenges, we have developed a mobile application named *BENDEASE*. Designed for iOS and Android platforms, BENDEASE offers a user-friendly solution to guide patients through their TKR journey, from preoperative preparation to post-operative recovery. By providing critical information and virtual support, the app bridges the gap between patients and healthcare providers, ensuring a smooth and effective recovery process.
