Check your tire tread depth with a coin, the tire's wear bars or a gauge, groove by groove on all four tires. Each tire gets a verdict against your country's legal minimum and a recommended replacement line, both with their source.
▶ UNEVEN WEAR, GROOVE BY GROOVE
• Check the inner, center and outer groove of each tire: front left, front right, rear right, rear left, plus the spare if you like. Motorcycles: front and rear.
• When the grooves of a tire clearly differ, the result names a possible cause: one edge worn more (possible alignment issue), center worn more (possible over-inflation), both edges worn more (possible under-inflation) — always with "have a shop check".
• A difference counts when two readings do not overlap, so approximate answers do not create one on their own.
• Left/right and front/rear differences are flagged too.
▶ WEAR TREND PER TIRE (ESTIMATE)
• Add the odometer reading when you save a check.
• With two or more saved checks with gauge or photo-ruler values, History shows each tire's wear per 10,000 km (or mi) and about how far it is to the recommended line.
• A straight-line estimate: two checks are marked low precision, and a depth that went up asks you to measure again. Coin and wear-bar answers are left out.
▶ COIN, WEAR BARS OR GAUGE
• Coin tests with a drawing and yes/no questions: US penny and quarter, 1 euro, UK 20p, 5 yen and 100 yen, Korean 100 won, Brazilian 1 real. Depths are approximate, with the source named.
• Wear bars: find the small triangle or "TWI" on the shoulder and compare the bar with the tread.
• Gauge: type the value in mm or 32nds of an inch.
• Photo ruler: photograph a coin standing in the groove and tap its edge and the tread. The coin's size is the ruler; the result is an estimate with a ± range of at least 0.5 mm. 3× loupe, 10-second self-timer, light switch.
• Switch the method per groove or skip one.
▶ A VERDICT WITH ITS LINES
• Good, Plan replacement, Check again or Below legal minimum, shown on a car seen from above.
• A result that spans a line is "Check again", not a forced pass or fail.
• Country from your device region, changeable. Stored legal values: US 2/32″ (most states); UK, EU states, Japan, Korea and Brazil 1.6 mm; Australia 1.5 mm; winter tires in Austria 4 mm and Sweden 3 mm. Elsewhere the wear-bar height (1.6 mm) is used and labelled so.
• Each legal row shows its source and checked date; secondary sources carry a badge.
▶ CONDITION, AGE AND HISTORY
• Optional questions: cracks, a bulge, cords showing, a nail or stone. Any yes: have a tire shop inspect it.
• The last four digits of the DOT code give the week, year and age of the tire.
• Up to 20 vehicles with saved checks; share a check as a one-page PDF.
• Optional reminder 30 days after your last check.
▶ GOOD TO KNOW
• This is guidance. It does not replace a tread depth gauge or an inspection by a mechanic.
• The camera does not judge the tire. Verdicts come from what you see on the coin or wear bar, a value you type, or the photo-ruler estimate from your taps — wrong if the coin tilts or misses the groove bottom.
• The 100 won and 1 real tests say "replace" without a mm figure. Most countries have no stored motorcycle value. Laws change; check your local law.
• Checks and photos are processed and stored on your phone. The app uploads nothing; you can share a report to a destination you choose. No account.
• The app shows ads, but not during a check, in the photo ruler or on an unsaved result.
