About this app

Sunflower Summer is back for 2024! With a better user experience and even more venues than last year.

This summer Kansas Tourism wants families to get out, explore something new, and enjoy time together!

Explore family-friendly attractions in the state of Kansas this summer. Search by activity type or location to find the perfect destination for your family.

You can see where all of your adventures have taken you with the Sunflower Summer Passport, and play fun games with Kansas facts!

Families with children attending schools in the state of Kansas can also get into most venues free just while using the Sunflower Summer app during the promotional period from May 25th to August 11th. But families from other states are welcome to visit the attractions and "stamp" their Passports as well!

I'm grateful the program exists, but this app is borderline unusable. The "dial" design scheme for categories is nonsensical and hides categories because they don't all fit. Searching from the home screen is super counter intuitive. You have to click the KS logo in the center of the dial. The worst thing is that there is no geographical search. You have to search by venue or city, which is worthless if trip planning. Let me see a map or go by zip. Otherwise I have to search town by town.

We have loved getting into all these fun places! You can add places to your Trip Planner by clicking the star so you can access the tickets quickly when you arrive. To use the tickets you open the attraction and click the button on the bottom left that looks like a ticket and says "use tickets now." If it is outside of their hours of operation the ticket will not be lit up like the other buttons. If you aren't sure how to use it just ask when you get there. Everyone is so helpful!

It's been fun using the last three years, I just wish they had a map feature to show all the locations across the state. It would make planning trips easier by seeing places in different areas rather than a long list of attractions without knowing which other ones were close by
