Lacks functionality. Can't control volume unless you're in the app - HUGE oversight. Yesterday, every time I opened the app to control the music, it kept bringing me to a speaker that hadn't been in use instead of the active speaker - major annoyance. track time is often incorrect, sometimes with songs starting from the beginning but showing 0:25 on the counter. Only providing treble and bass sliders is insufficient. The track shown in the notifications is usually from a few tracks previous.

Have an old Gen1 system that I haven't used in at least a couple years, mainly because of the problems that arose with the release of the s2 app and compatibility issues galore for years. Extremely frustrated I unplugged it and packed it away. Fast forward to today. After moving, I found the old system that honestly I forgot about. Decided to give it another shot. Followed the directions to downgrade and it works just like it when brand new 10 years ago. TY for Sonos showing some luv GEN 1 !

Pretty good. But it is not cool that it forces you to update every few months. If you don't, it limits what features you can use. The playbar also uses old technology, an optical port (toslink) to connect to anything, which little to nothing is compatible with anymore. So, if you want to connect anything other than a 1990s DVD player, Sonos forces you to use all sorts of adapters. My only other gripe is that you can't set songs stored on your phone for the alarm. Otherwise it is pretty awesome!

What's new

Renamed the Sonos S1 Controller, this app supports systems that include the oldest Sonos products. Systems supported by this app will continue to receive bug fixes and security patches but will not receive new software features found in the new Sonos S2 app and will not be compatible with Sonos products released after May 2020.
