Had issues, solved by tech support I was ready to chuck the whole HEOS system and go to Sonos because the app was not consistently working. But I LOVE the sound so I called Customer Service/ Tech Support for help on a Saturday. A patient tech carefully diagnosed why the app was not working. This is a buggy app---i advise a purchaser to know this-- the tech staff knows how to help, though. I will call again with any other issues.
Bit better now After new system update seems some common problems have resolved but app needs more stability. Rooms disconnecting and ungrouping itself efter half hour. App doesn't shows all players unless I restart it. Spotify sometimes stops itself. Have 100 mb fiber internet and still problems. Shame on you Denon
I've been using the Heos app for about a week now and so far it seems to do exactly what it needs to. Usability is a little confusing, but doesn't take that long to get used to. The only thing missing that I'd like to see is to incorporate more functionality from the 2016 Denon receiver app which allows you to view the zones on the receiver as a completely separate entity. The way the Heos app currently works is the receiver is one item so you can't "group" one zone to a different Heos device. You have to group the entire receiver. The other missing function is to encorporate better radio controls.
The worst. Really regret purchasing three speakers. Great sound, but can never stay connected, and I have an amazing wifi connection. Speakers even make a screeching sound occasionally. App constantly freezes or crashes.
Stop hating! This is a good product; so says me, a life long "hi fi" geek. It's not perfect but nothing is, I'm running a Denon Heos link, a heos 7 and a heos 3 and I rarely encounter any issues, there's a few tricks you have to get used to. Took me a while to figure out to hit "stop" on the Sirius XM app to get sound from playing to all speakers simultaneously. Running Google Play is not a problem. Use a Chromecast audio connected to any aux input or "line in" on the Heos link or Heos amp and select "aux in" or "line in"; "optical in" from the Chromecast connected device on the Heos app and your good to go. My listening history dates back to listening to Bobby Sherman 45's out of cereal boxes so for me I can live with a bug or two without freaking out. Chill!
App no longer finds devices Spotify works, I can see the device on the network, but Heos app can't see heos devices. Only fix is removing power for extended periods of time, at least an hour.
