SortMe is a personal finance app that helps users understand and manage their money by providing secure access to their bank account balances and transaction history in one place. We use Akahu, a regulated open-banking provider in New Zealand, as our sole method of bank integration. All bank connections require the user to authenticate directly with Akahu and explicitly grant permission for read-only access to their financial data. SortMe never receives, handles, or stores bank login credentials. Once access is granted, we only retrieve the minimum data needed to support our features: transaction details are used to automatically categorize spending and present a Spend Overview that highlights where money goes; account balances and asset/liability information are used to calculate the user’s Net Worth; historical spending is used to provide personalized insights in Fast Track to help improve financial behavior; and transactions are used to power the Budget tool, allowing users to plan spending, monitor progress, and compare against real-time spending activity. Users have full control over their connections and can disconnect any financial account at any time, which immediately stops all data syncing. All sensitive information is protected with strong encryption, securely stored, and never shared or sold to third parties. SortMe is designed solely to help users gain clarity, control, and confidence over their personal finances, and fully complies with Apple’s data privacy and usage policies.
