About this app

You are not here to journal. You are here because you are tired.

Tired of repeating the same mistakes. Tired of dating the same wrong
people. Tired of self-sabotage you can see clearly but still can't stop.

Ardal is a shadow work journal built to excavate the root — not track
your symptoms. Most journaling apps ask how your day was. This one asks
why you keep ending up here.

ARE YOU STUCK IN A LOOP?

• Sabotage: Destroying the good things you build, right on schedule.
• Numbness: Doomscrolling to turn off your brain.
• Exhaustion: Carrying a version of yourself that was never really you.
• Replication: Mistaking familiar pain for chemistry.

If you recognized yourself in that list, this shadow work journal is for you.

HOW IT WORKS

Whether you're new to shadow work or years deep, Ardal gives you a
structured process — not random prompts.

Day 1 might ask you to name the emotion you avoid most. By Day 14, you're
examining who taught you that emotion was weakness. By Day 30, you're
confronting the version of yourself you perform for other people.

300+ guided shadow work prompts across structured phases: Anxiety,
Relationships, Self-Worth, and deep Shadow Work. Real self-discovery,
done in order.

THE TOOLKIT

• The Vault — Passcode-protected and fully offline. No cloud, no account,
no data leaves your phone. Honest journaling needs total privacy.
• 300+ Deep Prompts — Structured shadow work prompts that surface what
you've buried.
• Pattern Tracking — Custom tags to spot your behavioral loops over time.
• Anti-Avoidance Reminders — Streaks and smart nudges that keep you going
when your mind wants to retreat.
• Night Mode — An eye-friendly dark interface built for late-night
reflection.

SHADOW WORK FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE DONE WAITING

This is a self-discovery journal for anyone tired of surface-level
reflection — beginner or experienced. No fluff. No streak gimmicks
disguised as growth. Just the prompts that get you to the truth.

Try Ardal free. Unlock everything with a subscription, or pay once with
the lifetime option — your journal, yours forever.

Stop treating the symptoms. Face what's underneath. Break the loop.
Shadow work prompts & journal for self-discovery. Break loops. Stop the cycle.

The prompts provided by the app are really helpful! My daily journaling has exponentially improved in just a couple days by these prompts because they help me think about important aspects about my day and myself. They also help with the "writers block" that often happens with journaling. Answering questions is a lot easier than looking at a blank screen! I think I'll be using the app for awhile! I'm considering premium already! Very happy!

The app is pretty good, questions do get a bit repetitive but that's helpful for identifying themes. My main issue is for things like goal-setting there's no way to distinguish those entries from regular journal entries if you don't tag them at the time you create them - you can't go back and tag them later - which means they end up lost in the general mass of journal entries. There's also no 'are you sure?' prompt if you hit delete, so I managed to accidentally kill an entry I wanted to keep.

You can tag most entries later, but for some reason, you can't do this with goal-setting entries. I should probably fix that. I'll also add a 'Are you sure?' prompt in the next update. For more questions tap on home icon, there are over 300 questions. Thank you for your feedback! If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.
