■ Why Gold takes seven days
Getting a verse right once is not memorising it. It counts when it comes back three days later, and again a week after that. So Lectio rewards recalling seven times across seven days rather than a hundred times in one sitting. That is what separates real scripture memorization from cramming, and it is why this feels closer to a devotional than a quiz app.

■ Why there are hearts
Speed is the enemy of retention. When hearts run out you have to pause, and that pause turns into the reflective part of the session. If you need to continue, a short rewarded video refills hearts or earns a streak freeze.
