Wake Gambit is an alarm clock you can't sleep through. It keeps ringing until you solve a chess puzzle or play your opening from memory, so your brain is awake before your feet hit the floor, and you learn a little chess every morning.

♞ HOW IT WORKS
• Set an alarm and choose how to turn it off: a chess puzzle, or an opening you're learning.
• When it rings, it appears over your lock screen, gets louder, and the volume keys can't turn it down.
• Solve it to turn it off. That's the only way.

♞ SNOOZING COSTS YOU
• Every snooze adds one more puzzle to solve.
• Set a snooze limit. When it's used up, the snooze button is gone.
• Swiped the notification away or closed the app? It rings again.
• The wake-up check rings 5 minutes after you solve it, in case you sneak back under the covers.

♞ LEARN A REAL OPENING
Choose from 19 openings, including the Italian, Ruy Lopez, Sicilian, French, Caro-Kann, Queen's Gambit, London System and King's Indian, as White or Black. Study the main line first, then play your side from memory when the alarm rings. A wrong move shows you the book move and starts the line again, so it sticks.

11,800 real puzzles from the Lichess open database, from Beginner to GM. Stuck at 6am? After two misses you get an easier one. The alarm never turns into a dead end.
