Great service, meh app. My main gripe is that when you press a notification 9/10 times it just puts you on the main page and I have to look through it to find the story I want. Also, I love the design of the app, but there's this weird thing where the bottom 1/4th of text is cut off on the titles for the must read section (inside the grey boxes.) It's a small thing, but it needs to be fixed.

Once a great app with great content. But it seems the Athletic is losing a lot of local beat writers & not replacing them. It just leaves a lot of articles on local team pages by "The Athletic Staff". That will never be worth the price of the sub. It was great while it lasted. Time to find a new app to give me my team news.

The great writers and in depth coverage are hampered by a poorly functioning app, unresponsive tech support, notifications that don't work, and a comment section that is either turned off, unmoderated, or populated by snarky staff who condescend to subscribers who are critical of an article or the site. Overall coverage seems to be going downhill, though some individual teams still have terrific writers putting out great articles. Shame they get lost in everything that doesn't work.
