As a long-time subscriber, I am pleased to finally have a native NYT app for Android! The layout for tablets is perfect, with the clues down the left and current square across and down clues right above the keyboard for ease of switching directions. The phone layout is necessarily smaller and less feature-rich, but functional - only wish there was space to display both the across and down clue on phones. My one quibble is that I wish the keyboard was native Android rather than an obvious iOS port, but it works, and the arrows in the tablet version are perfect. This is far superior to any of the third-party crossword apps I've tried, worth the wait!
Keyboard often lags. Doesn't respond well to returning from another app. Fun game. Awesome back catalogue. #1 most used game app.
The clues don't include any of the pertinent information like if the answer is two words. I also find the clues too vague but I typically have that experience with crosswords. Uninstall for me.
Facebook ad via the NYTimes page called this app "free", not "trial for 7 days then subscribe".
The ap is not free... I should have known the NYT is now associated with fake news and lies
I've always been a fan of the NYT crossword, glad to finally see it on Android. And I hope the people leaving 1-star reviews because it requires a subscription have left similar reviews for Netflix.
Thanks for continuing to use our new app, here's what's new in version 1.0.5 (225)
- Haptic feedback added to the keyboard, making it easier to tap the right keys now.
- Spoilers in notes are now hidden
- Fixed a crash when backing out of the puzzle pack info screen
- Other minor bug fixes
#Fun Fact KEYBOARD has never been an answer since Will Shortz became editor in 1993 and has only appeared in a New York Times Crossword three times in it's 75-year history
As always, happy solving!
