Photo Finish brings a highly accurate timing system for running and sprinting directly to your smartphone. Athletes are detected automatically using the phone camera, and timing information is transmitted between devices.

A single phone can measure lap times. With two phones, use one phone as starting pistol, while the other phone stops the time automatically when the athlete’s chest crosses the finish line. Or measure sprint times with a flying start, for example 30m flying. One phone is placed at the beginning of the 30 meters and one at the end.

Photo Finish has been engineered to be user friendly and for easy set up. The phones automatically connect via wifi/internet and athlete detection via the camera is fully automatic.

Due to fully automatic chest detection, very high accuracy is achieved, even outperforming that of high-end track and field lightbarrier timing systems.

This is superb for BMX sprint training. My son uses this many times every week as part of his training on the road. The software has no problems with detecting a rider on their bike and it makes timing so much easier. It took us a few goes to get the phones in the optimum position but since then we've had no problems. Using the flying start mode works well and removes the inaccuracy of timing with a stop watch.

I love your app but I have one small issue. The maximum time we are allowed to set for the delay between "On Your Marks" and "Set" is 12 seconds. That's not really helpful and actually does not represent competition conditions. This is because the starter waits a reasonable amount of time for all athletes to settle before saying "Set". I think you can maintain the default time if you want but please extend the time we can choose in settings to up to 1 minute to accomodate all of your users

Love this app. Easy way into accurate timing for training runs and works very well in my experience. As others have said it would be nice if you had option to use single phone with say Bluetooth speaker for fixed starts but I guess would be slightly less accurate in terms of the gun detection which uses the mic I believe.
