About this app

OpenNest is an Android file manager that brings together files stored on your device, NAS, external storage, and cloud folders added through Android's system file picker.

Designed to be easy to recommend to family members, OpenNest uses a calm, readable interface with clear explanations.
You stay in control of which files, folders, and connections the app can access.

FILE MANAGEMENT MADE CLEAR

Browse folders and files in a list or grid. Sort and filter items, search for files, revisit recent items, and save frequently used locations as favorites.

Handle everyday tasks such as copying, moving, renaming, creating folders, selecting multiple items, and sharing files. Deleted items are moved to Trash first, with an immediate option to undo. OpenNest asks for confirmation before permanent deletion.

VIEW AND PLAY YOUR FILES

View images, play videos and music, and read PDF documents without leaving the app. Find a file and check its contents right away.

Office documents can be opened in a compatible app already installed on your device. OpenNest does not claim to provide perfect in-app Office rendering.

CREATE AND EXTRACT ARCHIVES

Create ZIP archives from files and folders, inspect their contents, and extract them. OpenNest is designed to handle ZIP archives containing Japanese file names.

Selected 7z, RAR, tar, tar.gz, and tar.xz archives can also be extracted. Availability may vary depending on the archive format, compression method, encryption, or file condition.

USE SD CARDS, USB STORAGE, AND CLOUD FOLDERS

Add folders through Android's system file picker. This lets you choose only the folders you want OpenNest to access.

You can use supported SD cards and USB storage devices. If a cloud service installed on your device supports Android's file-provider system, you can also select its folders in OpenNest. Cloud accounts are managed by the provider app and are not registered directly with OpenNest.

CONNECT TO A NAS OR SERVER

Connect to a home or workplace NAS, or another compatible server, using:
• SMB/CIFS
• WebDAV
• SFTP
• FTP
• FTPS

Browse remote folders and transfer the files you choose. Connections and transfers begin only in response to an action you select.

WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR FREE

The free version remains useful for everyday file management. It includes:
• Local file browsing and essential file operations
• Basic image viewing, video and music playback, and PDF viewing
• ZIP creation and extraction
• Office document handoff to a compatible external app
• Access to cloud folders through Android file providers
• One saved NAS or server connection

OPENNEST PRO

OpenNest Pro removes the limit on saved NAS and server connections. It also includes app lock, advanced search, additional batch operations, conversion tools, and other advanced controls. An existing purchase can be restored.

PRIVACY AND ACCESS

OpenNest is designed to help you manage your own files and chosen connections. Permissions are explained when they are needed.

You can start in limited mode by selecting a folder through Android's system file picker. Full local-storage browsing requires Android's “All files access” permission, which is used for the file-manager functions you choose to perform.

Saved connection information is protected using Android's secure storage mechanisms.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Feature availability may vary depending on your device, Android version, storage or cloud provider, external app, network environment, server configuration, protocol, and file format.

A compatible external app is required to open Office documents. Cloud folders require a provider app that supports Android's file-provider system. NAS and server access requires a compatible server and network connection.

OpenNest VPN is a separate companion app. VPN functionality is not included in the OpenNest file manager.
Browse, organize, and view files on your device, NAS, and cloud storage.
