About this app

This app is an OPTIONAL tool that allows you to manage your SmarTrip® card and account. This app can NOT be used to pay your transit or parking fares. You do NOT need to setup a SmarTrip account to use SmarTrip in Google Wallet.

Add SmarTrip to Google Wallet:

- Open Google Wallet, tap “+ Add to Wallet”, choose “Transit Pass”, then “SmarTrip”

- In less than a minute you’ll have a new SmarTrip card in your Google Wallet and be ready to tap to pay for rides or parking anywhere SmarTrip is accepted.

If you need to do account management, then:

- Install this optional SmarTrip app to register your card for account balance protection, check SmartBenefits, setup Auto-Reload, or buy money-saving unlimited transit passes.

Favorite destinations and routes have disappeared completely and won't work. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling. There is no way to see train times for a particular stop. I used to be able to see the trains coming at my home and work stops. Now I can't even search for the red line. Useless app. Also the metro is late today, again.

It's better to just use the web page than the app. Adding value via the app to a plastic Smartrip card is very complicated, and the FAQs are different in the app than on the web page. Worst of all, the addtl value doesn't get added immediately to the card but can take 4 hours or more! It also remains Pending and doesn't appear until you actually go to use it and tap it on the sensor when you are in the station or boarding!!!! Ridiculous and misleading

We understand how frustrating that experience can be. You can add funds immediately to a digital SmarTrip card in your mobile wallet or add value in person at any Metro station. - RS

Only works at select terminals. Edit: No, it doesn't, else I would have had to walk 2 miles because it's not accepted with metro bus. This is the most ineffectual application I've ever used. You are 100% of the time better off using a browser. The app has an error every time I try to initiate a transaction, and it causes WMATA's backend to rescind the payment immediately after it hits my bank. What's worse, WMATA has ineffective support, and they repeatedly say "There wasn't a transaction."??
