Safe Catch – Keeping Gwadar's Fishermen Safe at Sea

Safe Catch is a free, offline-first maritime safety app built specifically for small-scale fishermen in Gwadar, Balochistan. Developed by Youth Association for Development (YAD), it delivers life-saving training, emergency tools, and real-time weather forecasts — all without requiring an internet connection.

LEARN SAFETY THROUGH GAMIFIED TRAINING
Master 4 comprehensive safety modules with interactive lessons, real-life scenarios, and quizzes:
• Weather Safety – recognize dangerous sea conditions before you sail
• Boat & Equipment Safety – pre-departure checks, life jackets, fuel management
• Emergency Situations – storm response, man overboard, first aid basics
• Communication & Alerts – SMS alerts, VHF radio, emergency calls

Earn points, unlock badges, and progress from Shore to Deep Sea as you build life-saving skills.

ONE-TOUCH SOS EMERGENCY SYSTEM
When danger strikes, hold the Bandaar Button for 3 seconds to activate a multi-channel emergency alert:
• SMS Blast – sends your GPS coordinates to emergency contacts instantly
• Audio Beacon – loud signal for nearby boats to locate you
• Flash/Light Signal – visible Morse code pattern for rescue teams
• P2P Mesh Relay – Bluetooth-based relay that forwards your SOS through nearby boats even with zero cellular signal

Survival tips and emergency guidance appear on screen during active SOS mode.

REAL-TIME WEATHER FORECASTS
Get 7-day weather predictions tailored for Gwadar's fishing waters:
• Hourly and daily forecasts with temperature, wind, humidity, and precipitation
• Fishing condition ratings: Favorable, Caution Advised, or Do Not Go to Sea
• Push notifications for severe weather alerts
• Full-screen emergency alerts for high-risk conditions

OFFLINE-FIRST DESIGN
All training modules, emergency features, and the SOS system work completely offline after installation. Designed for areas with limited or no internet connectivity.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
Safe Catch is part of the "Integrated Digital Safety & Risk Management Pilot for Gwadar Fishermen" initiative, designed in partnership with local fishing communities and supported by LRF. The app is currently being piloted with 50 fishermen in Gwadar District.
