PIA stands for “Prospective Monitoring and Management - App” and was developed by the Epidemiology Department of the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research (HZI) (https://www.helmholtz-hzi.de/de/).
PIA is a health app that enables you to document illnesses. It can help science, for example, to uncover connections between risk factors and diseases. In addition, symptoms and the course of the disease can be observed in the healthcare sector, among other things.
PIA is a non-commercial app.
General app functions:
- Completion of questionnaires for scientific studies
- Documentation of health events and the course of illness
- Reminders via push notifications
Project-specific functions:
- Immediate notification system in the event of illnesses and other events
- Integrated documentation of examinations and biosamples
- Personal feedback for users, e.g. in-app laboratory results
