About this app

LocationSync sends your phone's GPS position to your Sony camera over Bluetooth, so every photo is tagged with where you took it.

HOW IT WORKS
• Pair your camera once: on the camera, MENU › Network › Bluetooth Settings › Bluetooth Function: On, then open Pairing in the same menu. LocationSync finds the camera and walks you through pairing.
• Turn on location sync. LocationSync keeps your camera supplied with your location in the background.
• Or let it start by itself: with Auto (per camera, in Settings) the sync starts when your camera turns on and stops 2 minutes after it turns off.
• Make sure Location Info. Link is on: MENU › Network › Location Info. Link Set. › On. If it's off, the app tells you.

THE RIGHT TIME, TOO
With Auto Time Correct. and Auto Area Adjust. on (in the same menu, Location Info. Link Set.), your camera takes the date, time and time zone from your phone, so your photos have the right time wherever you travel.

ALWAYS KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING
• One status card answers "Is my camera getting location?": sending, searching, camera not reachable or Location Info. Link off, with the time of the last fix and its accuracy.
• When something is wrong, it says what probably happened and offers a next step, such as Reconnect Now.
• The notification, the Quick Settings tile and the home screen widget show the same status, and let you start or stop syncing without opening the app.

ON YOUR WEAR OS WATCH
The Wear OS app shows the sync status on your wrist and lets you start, stop or reconnect from the watch:
• A tile with the status, the camera, the time of the last fix and a Start, Stop or Reconnect button
• A complication for your watch face that shows at a glance whether your camera is getting location
• A small watch app with the same status and controls
The watch app needs LocationSync on your phone. To start syncing from the watch while the phone app is closed, set it up once on the phone under Settings › Watch.

SEVERAL CAMERAS (BETA)
Every camera you have paired gets your location at the same time, as long as it is on and in reach.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Your location is only sent to your camera. Crash reports are sent to Google Firebase, usage statistics only if you allow them. If you open the map, its tiles are loaded from OpenFreeMap.

COMPATIBLE CAMERAS
Confirmed: Sony Alpha 7 III (ILCE-7M3). Other Sony cameras with Location Info. Link over Bluetooth may work too. Tried another model? Send a report from the app's Help screen, or feedback from Settings.

Available in English and German.

LocationSync is an independent app and not affiliated with Sony.
Tags your Sony camera's photos with your phone's GPS location over Bluetooth.
