Unusable for streaming via Chromecast (3rd gen, stream holds randomly for 10 seconds plus), but the App serves well as a decent tool for browsing through the huge catalog of ARD content

I had been using the App for at least 2 years with no issues and with the latest update are faced with all the problems previous comment described (crashing, opening browser etc) . What went wrong? My AmazonFire TV is having the same problems. Not sure if this is connected to the Android app but it also needs fixing fast!

It's 20.01, about a month since other reviewers mentioned the problem, and still, the Mediathek app randomly opens as a default browser when clicking links that has nothing to do with it (I wasn't prompted to chose a default browser, it just randomly redirects to the hopepage of the app when clicking a link in an email in gmail, for example)

Update da, Bugs weg: Die Hintergrundbilder auf einigen Sendungsseiten werden jetzt direkt scharf geladen, Downloads funktionieren offline wie gedacht (auch in der Kinderwelt und mit Chromecast) und die Angaben unter "Software Lizenzen" werden wieder korrekt angezeigt.
