About this app

Total control everywhere: With the VW Media Control app, your tablet or smartphone becomes a remote control for your Volkswagen Infotainment system. For example, you are able to see your current position, the distance to the destination and the remaining driving time on the display. So the question "Are we there yet?" is answered within a blink of an eye. Google® search locations can also be easily transferred to the navigation system as the destination, such as an address from the appointment calendar or the phone book on your mobile device.
Are you more in the mood for music? Balance, fading and volume control are in your hands. You can select any of the available stations either using automatic or manual station search, or tuning directly to the frequency. Of course you can also select your own songs and albums; it doesn't matter if it is through the Infotainment system or an external audio source connected by Bluetooth. When your Infotainment system has an Internet connection, VW Media Control also gives you access to the entire World Wide Web, where you can look up your favorite songs and artists. Don't worry - you can start and stop access for the external devices at any time in the Infotainment system. This is what the best Infotainment looks like!

This Volkswagen app requires the vehicle-specific data interface of either a "Discover Pro" or "Discover Media" radio and navigation system. The range of functions varies depending on the Infotainment system manufacture date. Please contact your Volkswagen dealer with any questions.

The screenshots shown are an example and the appearance and content may vary from the actual application.

On my previous android 11, I could never get it to work despite hours of troubleshooting. On Android 12, it just opens with a blank screen. Really disappointing given the connectivity was a major selling point of my VW golf 2021 - feels scammy. Weconnect isn't even available in australia. The VW maps searchability is almost unuseable, which is the main reason I wanted this app

perfect for ingress. iitc, select portal, share location, select Media Control and off you go! phone has to be in the same WiFi with the car to make it work. edit: minus one star because localisation isn't done properly. e.g. set phone to "English (Austria)" and texts are missing and the app crashes. there is a thing called"default language" you know. learn how to use it. edited to one star for no longer working on Android 12 and not fixing this or even answering Mails to support.

Good app if you can figure it out. It's not super intuitive to use but once you figure it out, it works well. people moaning about it not working, likely couldn't work it out. I've seen it work in some of the cars people list as not having it work
